  • Celebrated "I Love my Public School" week

  • Celebrated CAPE’s 5th birthday and welcomed staff to a new school year at Brew With a View.

  • Partnered with Lake Mills Moms to sponsor a Clothing Giveaway event.

  • Participated in the Summer Summit.

  • Participated in the #VotePublic Campaign.  Sponsored a candidate forum for the 38th Assembly District and the 13th Senate District.  Developed voter guides for distribution in the community.  Distributed “I Love My Public School and I Vote” yard signs.  Placed ad in Lake Mills Leader.  Encouraged members and friends to be informed and vote.  Posted information on social media.  Created “Your Vote Counts” buttons. 

  • Promoted CAPE at Fall Festival.

  • Celebrated American Education Week.

  • Used Facebook Live to broadcast forums.

  • Supported the LMHS Drama Department with an ad in the musical program.

2013-2017

A sampling of our activities since our founding in March 2013:

:

  • Hosted informational forums including the “The ABCs of School Vouchers” (2013) and “The Smartest Kids in the World” (2014) which discussed state and national issues.

  • Hosted School Board Candidate Forums in election years and "Meet the School Board" events in off years to help connect the community with our school board members.

  • Collected donations of children’s books and distributed them to area businesses to keep in their waiting rooms.

  • Solicited donations from area businesses for gifts to Lake Mills Area School district staff during American Education week.

  • Supported school staff by hosting ice cream socials at the beginning of the school year to welcome back staff.

  • Provided gift baskets to each school during Teacher Appreciation week and arranged for students in the elementary and middle schools to write thank-you notes to their teachers or other staff during the school day.

  • Served as community member reviewers for high school portfolios, a graduation requirement (2014 on).

  • Assisted with the move from Prospect Elementary to the new Lake Mills Elementary School (2014), including the daunting task of packing more than 20,000 books in the library!

  • Assisted in construction of the new elementary school playground (2014).

  • Led tours of the new Lake Mills Elementary School (2014).

  • Joined elementary school parents and staff with the Hope for Haiti Food Packing event (2014).

  • Made small donations to teacher-led efforts to provide books, food, and other direct support to students.

  • Joined with other Wisconsin education advocacy groups to call for more state aid to education. (2014 on)
